Bad Sunrise
Bad Sunrise
Made for Mini Jam 131: Solar in April 2023.
In Bad Sunrise, you are an angry and bitter Sun. Your goal is to send a solar flare big enough to cover all of Earth and burn all the Humans for hurting your feelings.
Destroy all the Humans as fast as you can!
We had a nice relaxing jam and made a quick upgrade-based space game, working for the first time with artist DaBonky and composer Niko Chantzis. Overall we were not as stressed for time as we typically are in these jams and the game came together very easily.
If we had more time to work on it, the main thing I can see adding would simply be more things to shoot at, to add a little bit more interactivity. In addition, other goals than simply scorching the Earth, such as having to target other planets in more directions, could also have been an interesting addition.
How to play:
Controls:
Mouse - Left Mouse Button.
First select a size for the solar flare you would like to launch at Earth.
Then click to stop the accuracy meter in the direction of Earth.
Finally click one more time to give your solar flare all the power you can.
When each wave fails to reach Earth, the Sun grows angrier, and uses that anger in the upgrade shop to build up even more destructive solar flares.

fun game! I'm not sure what each upgrade does. Is the earth meant to be flat?
fun game ^^ i was a little disappointed that i couldnt keep upgrading my powers after burninating the blue marble. it's very satisfying to watch a good shot fly through space. good work!
Great game, the size selector feels a bit redundant. Why would I not want the biggest possible flare.
