Scuba Steve's Salvage Squad

In this casual upgrade game, help Steve hire divers to find the treasure he's been dreaming of. Made in one week for Brackey's Jam 2023.2 in August 2023.

We had an excellent time working on this one, and ended up with a very chill and relaxed little management/clicker type game. We started out trying to make our take on Insaniquarium, and ended up with Scuba Steve. 

Our biggest challenge was limiting our scope, as there are a million different ways we thought of to expand on this concept in different directions (such as having divers be individual characters you upgrade separately, having to manage food or other upkeep costs on the boat, having more hazards or more challenging dives that require precise drops at high cost, etc), so it's something we might return to in the future for more content.

How to play:

Controls:

A or Left arrow move boat left

D or Right arrow move boat right

W or Up arrow move camera up

S or Down arrow move camera down

R to Refuel boat

Space or Left mouse click to Hire a Diver

Tab or F to open/close shop

Move your boat around and hire divers that will jump off the boat and into the water to retrieve treasure and fish.

You need to upgrade your boat and divers until you are ready to retire. 

As you send divers deeper it will take more fuel to operate your boat.

Divers return to the boat quickly when they run out of air or have reached their hauling capacity.

Make sure you get those divers some knives. They can not deliver the treasure they find if they die.

You can't let the boat run out of fuel or you will die out on the ocean, so be sure you can afford the increased expenses that can occur as you are... "Diving Deeper".
